Focus of Our Research

Nitric oxide (NO) is a potent and multifaceted bioregulatory agent. Our research is aimed at finding ways of targeting NO to specific sites in the body for important research and/or therapeutic applications. We start by intensively probing the fundamental physiochemical properties of NO-containing compounds called diazeniumdiolates (also known as NONOates). With knowledge gained from this basic research platform, we then seek to design ways of solving pressing biomedical problems such as those shown in the following diagram.
